We invite artists from all disciplines to submit artworks for the Contemporary Reflection Exhibition, a curated showcase exploring the shifting relationships between proximity and distance, perception, and attention in contemporary life. Near to Far critically examines how technological mediation, social media, and constant connectivity reshape our experience of closeness and remoteness—personally, socially, and culturally.
Motivation Statement
This exhibition emerges from a reflection on technological distraction—phones, social media, and the constant circulation of images and information—and the effects of withdrawal, attention, and mediated presence. Drawing on contemporary theory (Debord, Virilio, Crary, Foucault, and post-digital discourse), Near to Far interrogates how proximity and distance are constructed, experienced, and disrupted.
We seek work that engages these dynamics, exploring presence and absence, intimacy and abstraction, immediacy and reflection. Whether through painting, digital media, installation, performance, or interdisciplinary practices, we welcome works that critically or poetically consider the negotiation of perception, attention, and relational experience in the post-digital era.
